I've been using my Tamrac Pro12 bag for several years and it's still in like-new condition. The bag is plenty large enough to hold all my gear with room to spare. The dividers allow for a large variety of layout options and has plenty of pockets for accessories. The bag is well padded and made with a tough snag and rip resistant fabric. All the seams appear to well stiched too, with box-stiching on all the major stress points. The carry strap is contoured, well padded and slip-resistant which makes for a much more comfortable day of lugging heavy camera bodies and lenses around. Every couple months I recommend spraying the outside of the bag down with a quality water-repelling spray such as that used for tents and other camping gear. This will do wonders for weatherproofing the bag to prevent your delicate equipment from getting damp if you're out and get caught in an unexpected rain....By Tough As Nails Bag

Great for low light, great focal length for DX, and autofocus will also work with D40, D40x, D60, and D5000 cameras This Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX lens produces sharp pictures and great color and contrast. It is also perfect for portrait and other general purposes (semi-macro etc). This lens also produces nice bokeh. The picture quality and bokeh quality are comparable with the other Nikon prime lenses (50mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.4 AF-S etc) lens which are famous for being sharp. Overall, this is a very versatile lens. On a non full frame DSLR (such as D40, D40x, D60, D5000, D80, D90, D200, D300 etc), this 35mm focal length is equivalent to about 50mm which is considered a normal lens (normal as to being close to a person eye viewing angle perspective). Many of us, including those who already own the 50mm prime, have been waiting for this lens (prime lens that has wider angle than the 50mm) for a long time, especially for non full frame DSLR owners that usually have about 1.5x magnification due to the smaller sensor size. Those 50mm lens on a non full frame DSLR is equivalent to 75mm which is often too much zoom for many situation. For example in a room where you can't keep backing up to compose your photos, or when taking picture of a group of people where you will need to move back a lot with the 50mm lens. This 35mm lens will solve that problem to some extent as this is a lot wider lens than the 50mm prime lenses. Having said that the 50mm prime lens is still a great lens. If you don't own any of the earlier version of the 50mm lens and wondering if you should get this 35mm or the 50mm, then I would recommend you to get this lens over 50mm, unless you know for sure that you need more zoom than the 35mm for your purpose, then you can go and buy the 50mm or 85mm (both available on f/1.4 or f/1.8). This lens (DX lens) is not designed for a full frame camera (FX or Film). There will be light fall-off which is quite significant. If you have a full frame DSLR, you might want to get the 50mm f/1.4 AF-S, or the older 35mm f/2 AF-D lens instead. Being a prime lens (this 35mm lens), you will need to move your feet a lot to compose your picture. While this lens produces very sharp images at f/1.8, the corner show lower contrast. Sharpness and contrast increases further as you stop down to f/2, f/2.8 and f/4. Sharpness increases slowly after f/2.8 (i.e. at f/2.8 seems to be the optimal, without sacrificing too much speed) The big plus with this lens over the older 35mm lens is the AF-S feature which is auto focus system that is internal to the lens, very fast and very silent. This lens will please a lot of people who currently own D40, D40x, D60, and D5000, as they now can benefit from the autofocus. Another big win is the manual override on autofocus mode (M/A mode), which will allow us to change the focus without having to change the mode to manual mode (this is pretty standard to most Nikon newer lenses but it's quite new for Nikon prime lens series) This lens doens't have image stabilization (VR), but that is kind of expected as Nikon also doesn't include VR on their new 50mm f/1.4 AF-S lens. It would be nice to have VR (for longer exposure handheld operation, and for people with less stable photography technique) but it will probably increase the size, weight and cost of this lens. If you are wondering whether you should get a fast lens or a lens with VR (Vibration Reduction), here's my take: In overall, VR does help a lot (as it will reduce camera shake) and will produce better/sharper picture than equivalent lens without VR (especially if the object is static). If the object is moving fast (sports/action) then VR feature alone might not help (depending on how fast the object is moving and how much light is available), and a fast lens often end up being a far better solution, even without VR feature as it will allow much faster shutter speed to freeze motion. Using tripod (and a remote) will substitute for the need of VR feature. In general I would recommend getting a fast lens with VR feature (and usually it is expensive) such as the 70-200 f/2.8 VR, but if one can only get for one or the other, then find out what do you want to use the lens for and then use the guideline mentioned here. If you are wondering whether you will get the benefit of buying f/1.4 lens over a f/1.8 lens, just remember that the f/1.4 lens is about 60% faster than f/1.8 at its widest aperture setting. With this information, you can decide if the additional speed will justify the additional cost. The bokeh is nicer as well in f/1.4 lens but I think speed is usually the main factor in deciding whether to get the more expensive f/1.4 lens. Here are the summary of pros and cons for this Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S lens: Pros: 1. AF-S AF-S AF-S (very fast focus, internal focus, and very silent) 2. M/A mode (manual focus override available on autofocus mode) 3. Very fast lens (f/1.8) 4. Very sharp pictures 5. Great for sport/action photography (though you might need more zoom) 6. Great for indoor and low light situation 7. Great for portrait 8. Bokeh is almost as good as many expensive Nikon tele-lens 9. Perfect for low light with no-flash event. However, also check out the following lens for low light photography: 17-35mm f/2.8, 24-70 f/2.8, 17-55mm f/2.8, 28-70mm f/2.8 or the the 50mm nikon prime lenses. 9. Great focal length (35mm). About 50mm equivalent which is a normal lens (If you need more zoom, you can get the Nikon 50mm or 85mm prime lens or 70-200mm f/2.8 VR lens). 10. Did I already mention very fast and very silent focus? :) Cons: 1. Being prime lens, you need to move your feet a lot to adjust/compose 2. Being a G lens (no aperture ring available), this lens will not work on manual focus camera where you need to set the aperture from the lens) 3. No VR. As VR will be useful for taking handheld shots on low light (especially if the object is somewhat static or if the photographer doesn't have steady hands when taking photograph) 4. Not designed for full frame cameras (FX or Film) where there will be siginificant light fall-off. Bottom line: This lens is so versatile that I think everyone should own this lens in addition to all the lenses that they already have (even if they alredy have the 50mm prime lens). Being a very fast lens, it will allow people to take action shot in low light that otherwise wouldn't be able to be do. And now, with AF-S, there is nothing to dislike about this lens (though in my opinion, this lens might attract even more interest if it has a VR feature). Happy Photographing! ......By.Sidarta Tanu

Customer Reviews UPDATE - March 2, 2010: This review was originally written for the 4 GB class 6 SDHC card, but the reviews have been grouped for all class 6 SDHC cards in the 4, 8, 16 and 32 GB sizes. All the cards should perform similarly since they are all class 6 and all made by Transcend. However, I will have to check which cards I have used hands on. I believe I only own the 4GB and 8GB cards. I will update the review further. If you have concerns regarding the 16GB or 32GB sizes, you should seek out the reviews tagged with the product links from those cards. The Transcend 4GB SDHC CARD (Class 6) is a great card for the price. I was at first a little skeptical about the brand, but I buy way too many memory cards to ignore a good price when I see one. And I'm happy to report that I've experienced decent performance and reliability issues with this card. That's as compared to other cards I own including SanDisk, PNY and Kingston. As long as your devices are compatible with the SDHC format, this card is a good buy. 4 GB is a nice size though I do prefer 8 GB capacity for high capacity storage. The class 6 speed is the fastest speed available in mass market SDHC cards. Class 6 guarantees minimum transfer speeds of 6 MBs, but I've gotten speeds up to 20Mbs! That makes this card perfect for storing pictures in RAW image formats. The Class 6 speed is on par with the Sandisk Extreme III cards that on average are about $15 to $20 more per card. If you don't have an SDHC reader, you may opt to get the package with a reader included to download your pics. If not you can just transfer your pics directly from your camera with your card still inserted. An SDHC card reader can be bought separately if your PC doesn't have a compatible slot. General SDHC and SD Card Tips There are a few tips that I've learned the hard way through buying TOO MANY different memory cards. 1. Make sure your device is compatible with the card! Even in regular SD cards, some older electronics aren't compatible with that large of a size (2 GB). In terms of SDHC cards, make sure your camera or other device is SDHC compatible. SDHC is different from regular SD and only newer devices tend to have built-in compatibility 2. Once you install this in your camera or device, you will generally want to format the card with your compatible device's interface. That is because the standard formats for certain devices, particularly Canon, are different from the factory installed format 3. Just like your devices, most computer SD card readers are not compatible with the SDHC format. So use a card reader or download the pictures via USB connection to the camera with the card still installed. 4. For some reason, placing the card in the locked position allows some older laptops to still read it. This is just to be used in a pinch however, and it won't apply to all systems 5. If you did not properly format your card, you may be able to save things to it and then have them "disappear." If this happens to you, make sure you use the software recovery tools BEFORE you try to save anything else to your card. That way, you can retrieve your images without over-writing them. 6. Make sure you know what you are going to use this card for. Once you have set up everything and ensured it's all compatible, you still have to decide on speed. If you are using this for storing RAW images instead of JPEGs or HD video, step up to the faster class 6 speed format if you can afford it. 7. If you are going to pay more for a faster speed, make sure your device can benefit from it. I've read, for example, that Kodak cameras are set to a fixed voltage and cannot go faster than standard speed. So the extra cash spent on Class 4, 5, or 6 is basically wasted. Conclusion It's great to have several extra cards on hand just in case. This 4 GB card is a nice performer. If you have a high capacity camera (10 Megapixels or more) and are storing videos or RAW images, the extra cash for the 8GB card is worth it. Or you may want to step up to the larger 16 GB size that is now available. This is a sweet little lens that really has no middle ground. You either love it or hate it. Most of the haters really either expect too much from this lens such as focusing in no light or on objects with no contrast and marginal light. The other reason there are detractors come from focus issues. This seems to be a user problem in my opinion. When you shoot at f 1.4, the area in focus can be pretty shallow. An example is at f1.4 and at a distance of 5 feet, the areas in focus is just .45 feet. If you have a DSLR with multiple focus points, you might find what you want in focus is not selected by the camera. This gives the impression of a focus issue with the lens which it is not. If you move into close focusing such as 2 feet using f1.4, the focus area becomes less than ¾ of an inch. Even the slightest movement by you or the subject can blow the focus. Again, this is not a lens problem but a user issue. However, don't be discouraged by the above comments. This lens has so many possibilities from creative images to group portraits to low light photography. You just need to put in a little effort to learn the lens (and your DSLR). Also remember that stopped down to f4 at 10' gives you 5.45 feet in focus. The 30mm lens also is about as close to a 50mm lens on a 35mm film SLR as there is. A 50mm lens was considered the de facto standard for an SLR in the old days and many people never had anything else. This is a very versatile lens. The lens itself has an excellent build quality and includes extras such as a lens hood and case. It is sharp and offers great contrast and compares well against such a well regarded lens as the Canon 35mm f1.4L which is about 3 times the price. You will not be disappointed in this lens at all and I highly recommend it. It is one of my favorite everyday lenses for my Canon 20D. (My everyday kit includs the Canon 17-40mm f4L, 70-200mm f4L, and a Canon 580ex flash.)...By Sweet Lens

I picked this camera up at Target for $65 on special last summer. I've owned a Panasonic TZ3 and Canon PowerShot SD950 IS, both were considered excellent cameras in their day and age and were both around $300. This camera is better than both hands down, its also better than my friends $200 Nikon and father's $150 Olympus which are the same vintage as this Polaroid. More responsive screen, better sensor, excellent flexibility in PASM mode and solid build quality. The only thing that could be improved is the lense which is okay for this price bracket but so-so even among point and clicks, however the thing zooms very quickly. Also with a class 10 SD card reviewing is instantaneous. The Sony sourced sensor is the real gem of this camera; what really makes it stand out as a sub $100 camera is the ISO and low light performance. Only problem with this camera is you need to be adapt at getting the most with PASM, thats what allows it to rise above the other under $100 junk cameras. Its auto modes are worthless though. My main shooting camera is a Sony alpha-Nex 3 that camera is also a PASM mode gem and I do not feel embarrassed sometimes using this polariod. Considering how dirt cheap their cameras are (likely from people avoiding them) I will prob pick up their 14MP 5x zoom when that gets dirt cheap too. If you use cameras like I do; you learn exactly what settings are called for in any given situation quickly. With that this camera has served me better than any other point and click I've owned. ...By A 6 month retrospective.

I searched over the internet & at the camera stores for a camera bag to fit my Canon G11. I wanted a the bag that fit my camera snugly, Velcro belt loop attachment only(no strap) and a small slot or area for and extra SD Card. The Tamrac 5689 fits all of that. It has Velcro to keep the lid/top of the case on and works well when you have to get the camera out quickly compared to zippered types. My camera fits just right with enough room to pull it out quickly. It is stored on its side and it makes it nice to pull out the camera quickly. The bag is well constructed, enough padding and not bulky. It fits well against your body if you hook it to your belt. It is larger than the little point and shoots and when I sit for longer periods I easily take it off my belt, which is attached again with Velcro. The small slot compartment on the inside is just large enough for a spare SD card, but not enough for a spare battery. Overall, this bag fits my needs well and I have used it for a month now on various trips and weekend shoots. I give it 5 for its good construction, functionality and nice look. If you are looking to carry more things like extra camera supplies, then get a bigger bag, because this will be too small for you. Most reviews knock the bags etc. when they don't fit or have the features they are looking for after they use them for a while. I was looking for a pocket-sized camera to replace a larger camera which, I was told, would cost $250 to repair due to a faulty battery pack. Came across this Polaroid i1036, compared it with other similar cameras, and decided that this was a great buy. When received, I put it through all the paces, testing it under all sorts of conditions which had given me problems with previous digital cameras; it passed all the tests. It starts up very speedily; it takes pictures without any delay; the functions are easy to understand; it's hard to believe that such a great camera could be manufactured at this price! I love that I'm able to toss it into my trousers pocket (or even in the pocket of my jacket) and take it with me wherever I go. The only problem I have is that, as a 6 footer, my hands are rather larger, which means that my big fingers have a tendency to miss the "on" button; but I can live with that mini-problem. Probably I'll eventually catch on concerning how to turn it on properly. Certainly 10 megapixels are more, more than I'll likely ever need....By This Polaroid camera is a beaut!

The LowePro Slingshot 102AW camera bag seems well constructed and very durable. It has one curved, padded shoulder strap so that you can carry it over your left shoulder. There is also a small nylon hand strap at the top of the bag for carrying the bag, but it is 1" in width and is not padded. There are a number of pockets and compartments for carrying an array of items. You can also carry a tripod or mono-pod on the side of the bag. The main issue may be whether the bag is large enough from your camera and gear. The main compartment has three subdividers that are held in place by velcro so that you can adjust the size of the subcompartments or remove the subdividers completely. The size of the main compartment is approximately 10" wide, by 7" (which would be the maximum distance from the back of your camera to the front end of your lense), to about 5" in height at most (which would be the maximum height of a single lense standing up in one of the subcompartments. The flap for the main compartment has two small pockets for memory cards. There is a secondary compartment at the top of the bag that is 7" wide at the bottom and narrows to 4 at the top, and about 4" deep. There are a couple other smaller compartments on the bag also. And then within the compartments are smaller storage pockets. The only thing that I didn't care much for was a strap that crosses the zipper of the cover to the main compartment that has two Travato side release buckles. If you secure the strap with the 2 buckles, then you have to release the buckles to unzip the cover. Then when you want to zip the compartment up again, the buckles tend to fall across the zipper and you have to pick them up to zip the bag up...By It's a nice camera bag--if it's large enough for your camera and gear

This film is tricky to shoot. It really isn't intended for point and shoot polaroid photographers or novice users. It's best described as a experimental artistic film. First, this should really be called a Photo DayPack. It has two distinct areas: one well padded area for photo gear, the other unpadded for things like sweaters, etc. The camera compartment is not huge, but it will accommodate most peoples digital SLR, mid-range zoom, telephoto zoom and flash, and a few other modest size accessories. It's not a very good bag for a gadget freak you can't decide what to take, so takes everything. The top compartment serves two useful functions. It gives us a nice, somewhat roomy area for carrying odds and ends; and it extends the bag length so that it fits comfortably on the back. This design is also much lighter than most backback designs, which makes it more suited to those such as myself who don't like to lug tons on my back...By Very good choice for what it is...

I bought this filter for my Canon 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens. The price was right, and I thought it would be a good way to protect the lens, which this probably does well. And while I am shooting under normal lighting conditions (flash or natural) the filter stays out of the way, but as soon as the lights go down this filter will ruin more photos than I can bear, due to an abundance reflective artifacts. If you take a photo of Christmas lights for example you will see the lights again in a faint green glow on the opposite side of the photo... VERY ANNOYING.

The picture quality and bokeh quality are comparable with the other Nikon prime lenses (50mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.4 AF-S etc) lens which are famous for being sharp. Overall, this is a very versatile lens. On a non full frame DSLR (such as D40, D40x, D60, D5000, D80, D90, D200, D300 etc), this 35mm focal length is equivalent to about 50mm which is considered a normal lens (normal as to being close to a person eye viewing angle perspective). Many of us, including those who already own the 50mm prime, have been waiting for this lens (prime lens that has wider angle than the 50mm) for a long time, especially for non full frame DSLR owners that usually have about 1.5x magnification due to the smaller sensor size. Those 50mm lens on a non full frame DSLR is equivalent to 75mm which is often too much zoom for many situation. For example in a room where you can't keep backing up to compose your photos, or when taking picture of a group of people where you will need to move back a lot with the 50mm lens. This 35mm lens will solve that problem to some extent as this is a lot wider lens than the 50mm prime lenses. Having said that the 50mm prime lens is still a great lens. If you don't own any of the earlier version of the 50mm lens and wondering if you should get this 35mm or the 50mm, then I would recommend you to get this lens over 50mm, unless you know for sure that you need more zoom than the 35mm for your purpose, then you can go and buy the 50mm or 85mm (both available on f/1.4 or f/1.8). This lens (DX lens) is not designed for a full frame camera (FX or Film). There will be light fall-off which is quite significant. If you have a full frame DSLR, you might want to get the 50mm f/1.4 AF-S, or the older 35mm f/2 AF-D lens instead. Being a prime lens (this 35mm lens), you will need to move your feet a lot to compose your picture. While this lens produces very sharp images at f/1.8, the corner show lower contrast. Sharpness and contrast increases further as you stop down to f/2, f/2.8 and f/4. Sharpness increases slowly after f/2.8 (i.e. at f/2.8 seems to be the optimal, without sacrificing too much speed) The big plus with this lens over the older 35mm lens is the AF-S feature which is auto focus system that is internal to the lens, very fast and very silent. This lens will please a lot of people who currently own D40, D40x, D60, and D5000, as they now can benefit from the autofocus. Another big win is the manual override on autofocus mode (M/A mode), which will allow us to change the focus without having to change the mode to manual mode (this is pretty standard to most Nikon newer lenses but it's quite new for Nikon prime lens series) This lens doens't have image stabilization (VR), but that is kind of expected as Nikon also doesn't include VR on their new 50mm f/1.4 AF-S lens. It would be nice to have VR (for longer exposure handheld operation, and for people with less stable photography technique) but it will probably increase the size, weight and cost of this lens. If you are wondering whether you should get a fast lens or a lens with VR (Vibration Reduction), here's my take: In overall, VR does help a lot (as it will reduce camera shake) and will produce better/sharper picture than equivalent lens without VR (especially if the object is static). If the object is moving fast (sports/action) then VR feature alone might not help (depending on how fast the object is moving and how much light is available), and a fast lens often end up being a far better solution, even without VR feature as it will allow much faster shutter speed to freeze motion. Using tripod (and a remote) will substitute for the need of VR feature. In general I would recommend getting a fast lens with VR feature (and usually it is expensive) such as the 70-200 f/2.8 VR, but if one can only get for one or the other, then find out what do you want to use the lens for and then use the guideline mentioned here. If you are wondering whether you will get the benefit of buying f/1.4 lens over a f/1.8 lens, just remember that the f/1.4 lens is about 60% faster than f/1.8 at its widest aperture setting. With this information, you can decide if the additional speed will justify the additional cost. The bokeh is nicer as well in f/1.4 lens but I think speed is usually the main factor in deciding whether to get the more expensive f/1.4 lens. Here are the summary of pros and cons for this Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S lens: Pros: 1. AF-S AF-S AF-S (very fast focus, internal focus, and very silent) 2. M/A mode (manual focus override available on autofocus mode) 3. Very fast lens (f/1.8) 4. Very sharp pictures 5. Great for sport/action photography (though you might need more zoom) 6. Great for indoor and low light situation 7. Great for portrait 8. Bokeh is almost as good as many expensive Nikon tele-lens 9. Perfect for low light with no-flash event. However, also check out the following lens for low light photography: 17-35mm f/2.8, 24-70 f/2.8, 17-55mm f/2.8, 28-70mm f/2.8 or the the 50mm nikon prime lenses. 9. Great focal length (35mm). About 50mm equivalent which is a normal lens (If you need more zoom, you can get the Nikon 50mm or 85mm prime lens or 70-200mm f/2.8 VR lens). 10. Did I already mention very fast and very silent focus? :) Cons: 1. Being prime lens, you need to move your feet a lot to adjust/compose 2. Being a G lens (no aperture ring available), this lens will not work on manual focus camera where you need to set the aperture from the lens) 3. No VR. As VR will be useful for taking handheld shots on low light (especially if the object is somewhat static or if the photographer doesn't have steady hands when taking photograph) 4. Not designed for full frame cameras (FX or Film) where there will be siginificant light fall-off. Bottom line: This lens is so versatile that I think everyone should own this lens in addition to all the lenses that they already have (even if they alredy have the 50mm prime lens). Being a very fast lens, it will allow people to take action shot in low light that otherwise wouldn't be able to be do. And now, with AF-S, there is nothing to dislike about this lens (though in my opinion, this lens might attract even more interest if it has a VR feature). Happy Photographing! ......By.Sidarta Tanu

I've been using my Tamrac Pro12 bag for several years and it's still in like-new condition. The bag is plenty large enough to hold all my gear with room to spare. The dividers allow for a large variety of layout options and has plenty of pockets for accessories. The bag is well padded and made with a tough snag and rip resistant fabric. All the seams appear to well stiched too, with box-stiching on all the major stress points. After reading the two reviews above, I was somewhat baffled. If you do any research on this product, you will find it clearly is made only for use with Sigma lenses, not Nikon lenses. The instruction manual that comes with the converter even lists which specific Sigma lenses to use. If you want a converter for Nikon lenses, buy the Nikon TC-20E (retails for more than twice the Sigma). Of course the quality of this product is poor when using a Nikon lens! The product felt strong, solid, and well put together. The glass was clear with no visible tint or imperfections. Although this and another filter (same type different size) both arrived with smudges on the glass. The smudges were fairly easy to wipe off, but I suspect the items are either not cleaned before packaging, or I received someone's returned item. However, I had to return this item since they DON'T contain any anti-glare/reflective coating on them. When shooting towards a light source (light bulb, tv, sun, etc) a green reflection of the light source would appear on the recorded image. The green reflected image was caused by a reflection bouncing off of my lens's green tinted anti-glare coating which was bounced right back into the camera by this filter. If your lens isn't coated in an anti-glare coating the result will be even worse. Instead I picked up Quantaray filters from a local Wolf Camera that were coated with the anti-glare. They only cost a little more, and the green reflection is now gone. Make sure you look for a filter with the anti-glare Camera: Canon 20d, Lenses tested: 18-55, 28-135, 70-300...By Good quality product, but not what I wanted.

In the age of digital revolution that metamorphosed photography for ever there is little reason to buy an analog product. A product with a large size and cumbersome function. rather than take hundreds of photos before you think of changing your memory card you are limited to 10 small expensive prints. So why did I buy it. And how come did I give it five stars. Will here are the reasons;

1. I had realistic expectations for what I was getting into.

2. I love photography in all it's shapes and forms.

3. Again I had realistic expectation.

look at reasons 1 and 3 again. some people buy things with inflated expectations and then get disappointed with what they have. Honestly the photo quality was way way much better than I expected. The colors are vivid and vibrant and the focus is really sharp. The camera has for simple different settings for light conditions and an automatic flash which did a really good job for foreground lighting. The photos are small but that was a compromise I'm willing to make. They are expensive $1 per print, to me that makes them more precious. In this day of digital we are so used to click click click with our digital cameras and our cellphones. We take thousands of photos and print literally zeros. The photos we take are free so we don't think twice of click click click. With this Polaroid and $1 per print price tag I enjoyed the click and the "Shake it like a Polaroid picture" and the sharing with others. It is really really fun. But I have no illusions. And I want you to have none. This is a novelty / speciality item. It will not replace my DSLR or my point and shooter it will compliment them and thus I'm really happy with my purchase and if you buy this camera with a realistic expectations and if you are a sentimental guy/gal you will enjoy it like I am. ...By A really pleasant speciality / novelty item

there are currently 4 wide angle zoom choices available on the EF-S canon mount (d-rebel/xt/20d) canon 10-22, Sigma 12-24, sigma 10-20, tokina 12-24. Of these, sigma 12-24 is the only one which is usuable on a full frame sensor (canon 1d, 5d, possible future cameras). There is sizable difference in field of view between the 10 mm, and 12 mm. and the tokina is closer to 13 mm on its wide end. The sigma retails for about 2/3 the price of the canon. Optically they are very similar, with the canon having a larger maximum aperature, which is generally not important in a wide angle lens. The built construction is EX, they higher line of sigma, and it excellent. The focus motor is HSM, making it fast, and very accurate. Resolution chart show the sharpness to be very close to that of canon. The color and contrast is excellent, the flare and chromatic abberation genenrally well controlled. A fun lens to use, and excellent value.....By best value wide angle.

I am very impressed with this lens. It is wonderfully sharp. The auto focus can hunt slightly in dimmer conditions but you would probably expect this with a 4.5 lense. Don't let this stop you at all. I would by it all over again for sure. By the way, I bought mine from ritz camera (.com) on Sunday and delivered on Thurs. (I paid $504 due to the $25 off for using paypal plus free shipping and no tax). Many photos are better than my 18-200mm VR lens. I'm so glad I bought this as the extra reach is going to help me out on the softball field where my 200mm was just short. One other thing I noticed was it is slightly noisier than my 18-200mm VR (but not terribly much more). It is enough to notice, but no show stopper. Your going to love the photos you get from this. I'm thrilled to have it and now be in the 300mm range. What a keeper. I plan to keep both my 18-200 and my 70-300. Mine comes with a 5 year warranty directly from Nikon....By Lens Rocks! I've been a big fan of digital photo frames since i discovered them. It's just that they make great gifts and anyone with a digital camera will want one, so it's a no brainer and saves me time shopping. I started buying nix frames a year back as they seemed to make more niche, style based frames like leather and wood etc. and would thus be more interesting as a gift. then recently they started making more top of the range frames like this model so i got one for myself. premium models like this are of course more expensive, but you definitely get what you pay for. In fact so far I've yet to come across a model with more features than the new 8 inch nix frames (there's another version TS08B that is without an internal battery and cheaper). generally the functions this frame performs do seem to have practical value: auto-rotate, internal battery, internal memory etc etc. The frame has touch controls which are sci-fi cool and the kids love them, but ultimately I find myself using the remote control nearly all the time. The remote is good having shortcut buttons, so for example you can just press "slideshow" and hey presto the frame is playing a slideshow! My daughter likes the internal battery function the best, as she and her friends crowd around the thing on the couch and can flip through their videos and photos. another unexpected benefit of the internal battery is that when you want to transfer photos from your computer to the frame you just take the frame to the computer, whereas i used to have to unplug and replug in the frame next to the computer. sounds trivial, but because of that i used to update my old frame with new photos less often. i would actually say that because of the battery we end up getting a lot more out of the frame. though the frame has a lot of functions the best thing for me is the styling. with a completely flat, black front panel the frame just looks really cool. even when it's switched off it just looks ultra modern the way light reflects off it. This is a great case for the Canon G11 it offers good protection with light weight. Also purchased but returned the Tenba 638 MIXX Large and Kata DF-408 DPS, good cases, but they didn't fix as well. My need is to add some protection around the G11 as it bounces around my bag with other media gear. This case holds the camera very well while the camera strap extends out of the top around flap. It is possible to fold the strap down and secure it inside the top of the case but it is tight. Small front pocket is excellent for extra media card. It can hold an extra battery but it makes placing the G11 into the case more difficult. Because of my specific use, and because the camera fits perfectly in the case, I'm considering cutting the top off of the case. It will allow me easier access to my camera while in my jacket pocket or bag. UPDATE: I have now cut the flap off of this case. So it is now more of a protective sleeve than a case. It works great in my coat pocket or briefcase, protecting my Canon G11. I've also discovered that the G11 is built like a tank and doesn't need much protection....By Great for Canon G11

I purchased a Sony photoframe for my parents last Xmas. We liked it a lot and finally got round to buying one ourselves. Set up out of the box is simple. Some shortcomings mentioned by reviewers of previous versions seem to have been sorted out. For example, you can, on this model, sort through various folders to select a subset of photographs to view - useful, as the internal memory can hold upwards of a 1000 pics. We don't use the internal memory though. Buy a USB memory stick for about £10, copy the photographs you want to view onto that, and then insert it in the USB slot at the back of the frame. You cannot see the memory stick from the front once it's in. Excellent product - highly recommended. It does need to be plugged in to a mains socket. This does restrict its location and means, for example, that you cannot pass it around friends for them to oooh and aaah at your snaps....By Excellent product

Among Nikon's most celebrated lenses have been its Micro Nikkor macro lenses. This autofocus lens remains among the best, not only for its fine optics but also because it will allow the user to focus down to a 1:1 life size reproduction ratio, which is perfect for photographing inanimate objects such as coins or stamps or relatively still living objects such as leaves and flowers. I agree with another reviewer that if you intend to photograph small animals such as insects, then either a 105mm Micro Nikkor or the 200mm f4 Micro Nikkor, would be a more appropriate macro lens. Simply put, this is the best all-around lens that Canon manufactures. It produces razor-sharp images with startling color and saturation, and at f/2.8 across the zoom range is capable of shooting in all but the dimmest of lighting conditions. The "L" glass (Canon's professional line of lenses) is simply the best out there, bar none, from any manufacturer. It's pricey, but well worth it. I use this lens for portrait and wedding photography, landscapes, sports, and anything else that doesn't require extreme telephoto. In concert with my EF 70-200mm f/4 L USM lens, I find that these two lenses cover just about everything I ever want to shoot. Of the two lenses, if I could pick only one, it would be the 24-70mm, because it's so versatile and can shoot so many situations (the 70-200mm is also a marvelous, invaluable lens, but at 70mm is limited in wide-angle situations). I can't recommend this lens highly enough. I must admit I went back and forth in my mind before plunking down $150 for this thing. Not counting the cost of the film, of course, which is not cheap. I so far have only used Polaroid 669, and that will run you just north of $1 a shot. And it probably will not get cheaper in the future. Fuji makes instant film for this also. I can confirm that Fuji FP-3000B film absolutely works with this back as I just developed a shot 2 minutes ago. So you have other choices besides Polaroid film. Anyway, in spite of the expense, I absolutely love it! There is just something about the quality of the photo that I cannot duplicate with my Nikon Dxxx. The colors are great and the results are as sharp or sharper than anything I get with my digital. However, this is not intended to be a film versus digital debate - you can read about that anywhere. For me, my Holga and dlsr complement each other and serve totally different purposes. I admittedly have an addiction to acquiring camera gear, accessories, etc. that far exceed my needs. Too much of it sits in their boxes never to see the light of day. But since I bought the Holga Polaroid back, I find that I not only pick up my Holga every single day, but I do so with a renewed sense of joy and anticipation. That is the true measure, in my opinion, of the worth of any product like this. It is as simple to use as any similar type back. It attaches via your camera's slide rails and it adds a tripod mount. Just pop in your film, don't forget to move your dark slide, and you are good to go. As is evident from the product photo, it obscures the finder, but it comes with an external finder you can attach to the top of your Holga. Works well enough. I highly recommend this product because it adds a huge new dimension to the Holga photography experience. I rarely ever used film cameras because I simply don't like waiting for my results, having to drop off/pick up film. This product erases that substantial barrier. It can get a little pricey with the cost of film and all, so just be aware of this going in and enjoy....By Too much fun

I have the Nikon 60 Micro lens and wanted something with more working distance. In the Photozone.de test, it was amazing. Very high resolution, even at f/2.8. And very low CA's(chromatic abberations). So I bought it and does it deliver that kind of performance? Yes it does! Sharpness and color redention was stunning. And at 1:1(life size on the negative or digital sensor), there's more than 7 inches working distance. Build quality is excellent. It's mostly metal construction. The focus ring has a nice dampened feel to it. The new Sigma rear caps fit tighter and do not come off. But they're a little harder to mount. About autofocus performance, it's fast, but hunted in low light with the Nikon D50 while shooting motocross. But that's a weakness of the camera body, not the lens. On the F100(a high end Nikon film camera), it was lightning fast and dead on. Yes it is a full frame lens, so it can be used on 35mm cameras also. There's a tripod collar and it makes for a well balanced setup when on a tripod. The collar is removable making it easier to do handheld shooting. The maximum aperture of f/2.8 allows more flexibility in low light. The filter thread is 72mm, and filters this big get expensive. It is a good all around telephoto-sports, portraits, landscapes...you name it. Just because it's labeled a macro doesn't mean a lens is good for macro only! It's not cheap, but if you want a solid performer that's great for all occasions, this just may what you're looking for....By Sigma gets an A on this one.

I got this lens a day before taking off for an eight day trip, and shot over 1800 photos with it. Though not the fastest lens out there, it did everything I wanted it to, both in the wide angle and the telephoto. I think I put it through a pretty thorough test over that week, and have these comments:

1. If I can only take one lens, this would be it.

2. I missed not having a macro feature, but I got close enough with the telephoto to make up for it in some cases.

3. The auto focus works fine in normal and bright lighting, but in dim lighting (like in a museum) it became confused and I used the manual focus option instead.

4. This is my third Sigma lens, and I haven't had any quality control problems with any of them.

5. I have no experience with high end Canon lenses for my Canon DSLR so I can't make a comparison, but I'm fully satisfied with the optics of this lens. Excellent value and versatility. ...By My choice for traveling

I got a new Panasonic super zoom camera (Lumix DMC-FZ35 - Great!) and needed a case for it. The camera's an odd size - not as big as a DSLR but considerably bigger than a point-and-shoot. This Tamrac 3320 case is a perfect fit. The camera will fit with the lens pointing downward but I find it is more convenient with the lens pointing to the side so that the "handle" end of the camera is at the top and can be grabbed easily. There are two small exterior pockets (one on each side) that can hold thin items - I keep a filter in one and the lens cap in the other. There is no room for extras such as batteries and other supplies so if you feel the need for lots of additional gear, a roomier bag might be better. For me, this is the perfect bag and even has a wide, sturdy belt loop.... By Perfect case for panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35!

Don't be put off by all the complaints about the manual. Sure it's pretty useless but it is only for a photo frame. You can pretty much work out what buttons to press by trial and error in 15 mins. I bought this one for resolution, battery option and video playback and was not disappointed. For these features at £20 more than one at PC World without any of these is £20 well spent. Plus points : Good resolution - compared against a 480/400 x 234 then the difference is stark. Those ones are fine as a Xmas present for your gran. Divx playback works a treat. Battery option for me was a must. Ignore the person who expects the battery to last for days or gives you the impression that the battery will run down in the time it takes to pass it around the room. Lasts long enough to free you from being 2m from a power socket in normal usage. Remote control is actually a plus - didn't make this a buying criterium but actually very handy. Preview mode good where it displays 10 thumbnails (bit slowly) and even more useful a sort of directory browser which shows the filename and a thumbnail - handy when you need to make a note of the filename so that you can order a print later. Negatives: User interface a bit quirky and the manual will not help you. There will be things where you think "it doesn't work". In fact it does - you have not set it up right. For example to get a slide show to work needs a setting of one of the Browse settings from One to Auto. Displaying in "full screen" rather than "normal" avoids the black bars (which are about 0.8cm either side) but removes the facility to rotate images and also then expands the top half of a portrait mode photo to full frame cropping the bottom half of the photo. Zoom seems to work well but suspends a slide show and even if you zoom back out to 100% you need to manually advance to kickstart the slideshow. Imagine if you don't use it regularly you will forget what buttons to push. Other: you get audio out and video out (with leads) and MP3 playback (not particularly useful in my mind but each to their own). They have even given EQ settings and reverb settings (e.g. hall) for the audio - which is quite good enough for video playback but not exactly going to get you to chuck out your iPod. Loads of control over video settings - brightness, contrast, hue, saturation. Looked fine to me on default settings....By Great performer

A GREAT BUY. This Phillips SPF4008 Photo frame has a great display, bright and very sharp, colours are great too. Still good when viewed from acute angles. Plenty of options for the Slideshow, both for transition effects and time each photo is displayed. Although there is no remote control (my only gripe), the menu is easy to use via the controls on the back of the frames. Takes several different types of memory cards and you can edit your photo selections via the frame. It has a date and time function, incuding auto On and Off. There may be some functions that are missing but it fullfills all that i require in a photo frame. The product felt strong, solid, and well put together. The glass was clear with no visible tint or imperfections. Although this and another filter (same type different size) both arrived with smudges on the glass. The smudges were fairly easy to wipe off, but I suspect the items are either not cleaned before packaging, or I received someone's returned item. However, I had to return this item since they DON'T contain any anti-glare/reflective coating on them. When shooting towards a light source (light bulb, tv, sun, etc) a green reflection of the light source would appear on the recorded image. The green reflected image was caused by a reflection bouncing off of my lens's green tinted anti-glare coating which was bounced right back into the camera by this filter. If your lens isn't coated in an anti-glare coating the result will be even worse. Instead I picked up Quantaray filters from a local Wolf Camera that were coated with the anti-glare. They only cost a little more, and the green reflection is now gone. Make sure you look for a filter with the anti-glare ... By Good quality product, but not what I wanted.

UPDATE - March 2, 2010: This review was originally written for the 4 GB class 6 SDHC card, but the reviews have been grouped for all class 6 SDHC cards in the 4, 8, 16 and 32 GB sizes. All the cards should perform similarly since they are all class 6 and all made by Transcend. However, I will have to check which cards I have used hands on. I believe I only own the 4GB and 8GB cards. I will update the review further. If you have concerns regarding the 16GB or 32GB sizes, you should seek out the reviews tagged with the product links from those cards. The Transcend 4GB SDHC CARD (Class 6) is a great card for the price. I was at first a little skeptical about the brand, but I buy way too many memory cards to ignore a good price when I see one. And I'm happy to report that I've experienced decent performance and reliability issues with this card. That's as compared to other cards I own including SanDisk, PNY and Kingston. As long as your devices are compatible with the SDHC format, this card is a good buy. 4 GB is a nice size though I do prefer 8 GB capacity for high capacity storage. The class 6 speed is the fastest speed available in mass market SDHC cards. Class 6 guarantees minimum transfer speeds of 6 MBs, but I've gotten speeds up to 20Mbs! That makes this card perfect for storing pictures in RAW image formats. The Class 6 speed is on par with the Sandisk Extreme III cards that on average are about $15 to $20 more per card. If you don't have an SDHC reader, you may opt to get the package with a reader included to download your pics. If not you can just transfer your pics directly from your camera with your card still inserted. An SDHC card reader can be bought separately if your PC doesn't have a compatible slot. General SDHC and SD Card Tips There are a few tips that I've learned the hard way through buying TOO MANY different memory cards. 1. Make sure your device is compatible with the card! Even in regular SD cards, some older electronics aren't compatible with that large of a size (2 GB). In terms of SDHC cards, make sure your camera or other device is SDHC compatible. SDHC is different from regular SD and only newer devices tend to have built-in compatibility 2. Once you install this in your camera or device, you will generally want to format the card with your compatible device's interface. That is because the standard formats for certain devices, particularly Canon, are different from the factory installed format 3. Just like your devices, most computer SD card readers are not compatible with the SDHC format. So use a card reader or download the pictures via USB connection to the camera with the card still installed. 4. For some reason, placing the card in the locked position allows some older laptops to still read it. This is just to be used in a pinch however, and it won't apply to all systems 5. If you did not properly format your card, you may be able to save things to it and then have them "disappear." If this happens to you, make sure you use the software recovery tools BEFORE you try to save anything else to your card. That way, you can retrieve your images without over-writing them. 6. Make sure you know what you are going to use this card for. Once you have set up everything and ensured it's all compatible, you still have to decide on speed. If you are using this for storing RAW images instead of JPEGs or HD video, step up to the faster class 6 speed format if you can afford it. 7. If you are going to pay more for a faster speed, make sure your device can benefit from it. I've read, for example, that Kodak cameras are set to a fixed voltage and cannot go faster than standard speed. So the extra cash spent on Class 4, 5, or 6 is basically wasted. Conclusion It's great to have several extra cards on hand just in case. This 4 GB card is a nice performer. If you have a high capacity camera (10 Megapixels or more) and are storing videos or RAW images, the extra cash for the 8GB card is worth it. I needed a new camera bag for my new camera, so I shopped a local camera store to see what they had. I was really impressed with the quality of the Tamrac products they had in stock. The canvas sides of the bag, the straps and the padding were all a notch heavier and better quality than similarly priced competing brands that I saw in that store. But I didn't buy there, since they only carried backpack styles in the Tamrac brand, and I wanted a more conventional, non-backpack style bag. I did an Internet search for Tamrac products when I got home and found that they have a huge and varied product line of camera and video bags, many more than I saw in the store. Since I now knew of their quality, I simply picked a Tamrac bag by the advertised features, size and price. The Tamrac Explorer 2 is fairly small, but ideally sized to carry my Nikon D80 DSLR with a 18-135 Nikkor zoom attached. There is also enough additional room for a good sized flash and an extra lens. And, there's plenty of space for small things like extra memory cards, batteries, cables, etc. My camera's body with the lens attached measures a total of 6.25 inches long (back of camera body to end of attached lens), 4 inches tall (camera body base to hot shoe) and 5 inches wide. This bag will accept a camera body that is even wider than that, but the 6.25 inch total length is close to the max that this bag will comfortably handle. If your camera/lens combination is longer than that, you will want to look at a larger bag, if you intend to carry your camera with the lens attached. Finally, this is a bag that should last you many years with only minimal care. It is solidly built from quality materials. Just keep in mind that the size of this bag is suitable for just one camera body, a couple of lenses (one attached to the camera body), a flash attachment and the assorted small items that support a DSLR system. these digital photo frames are such good gifts. This is a really good product for viewing your digital photos. I particularly like:

1. The built-in battery - this let's you carry it around conveniently without trailing cable. Very good feature. I can't understand why others such as Sony don't do it.

2. The built-in 1GB storage - this is also very covenient although it support many other storage media formats.

3. Good quality feel.

4. It automatically rotates your image if you rotate the frame.

5. Many other good features.

I can't find fault with it. Thanks to those who took their time to write a review on this product which convinced me to buy one.

The only thing I've noticed is that the unit may suffer from interference from other devices' remote controls and cause it to malfunction. In my case, my Humax PVT remote causes this problem. A long as you know you can avoid it.

I wanted a cheap telephoto lens for those times I need the reach. Since I don't use it that often, I felt no need for a large or expensive lens. I debated between this lens, the Tamron 70-300 Di, and the Sigma APO of the same type. This was the cheapest so I went with it. Frankly, I can't believe how good this lens is for its price. At 70mm, it's tack sharp corner to corner. Even 200-300 it's quite good. And the Macro mode is just icing on the cake--1:2 magnification means you can get quite close. It's true, you need a fair amount of light for this lens to shine--no argument there. But for the individual who only does this sort of stuff for fun, this lens is hard to beat. I can't imagine the APO variant is worth $70 more--I cannot detect any difference from sample pictures posted online. So if you only need a lens of this focal length occasionally, this is the one to get....By Unbelievable bargain!

This is an excellent digital photo frame at a very competitive price. It has several key advantage:

1. It is produced by a well know manufacturer.

2. It can be set to turn on and off at set times. Who wants a frame on all day or remember to turn it on and off.

3. In my view it produces excellent image quality and colour.

4. It also 'auto orientates' so turn the frame and the photo changes as well.

5. Finally, many frames are in a 16:9 layout but most cameras take 4:3 photos. Thus pictures are distorted to fit them. The Philips model is 4:3 making this change in image unnecessary.

After seeing the poor reviews below, I had to come review this Polaroid i532. I have had this camera for many years and have loved it! Despite what the others said, I have NEVER had any problems with responsiveness and I have always gotten great pictures from it. Check Flickr for the same user name here and you will found thousands of well done photos I have taken with this camera. It shoots well both indoors and out, does great close up text and small item pictures, and the video mode works fine for the camera size and price point. Though 5 MP is "small" by today's standards, for most casual photographers just wanting 4x6-8x10 pics and to share pictures online, that is more than enough. However, at its max resolution, this camera can produce smaller poster prints and images of good enough quality to go into a photo book I printed earlier this year. This was my second digital P&S, with my first also being a Polaroid. Like any digital camera that uses AAs (its only minor flaw), it does drain them fast (especially on video mode), but this is easily dealt with by getting some rechargeable batteries. $10-20 investment for a charger and four batteries and you're good to go. It is a great sized camera, easily slipping into most shirt pockets, jackets, purses, etc. Considering how long I've had mine, and all its been through, it is also very durable. This is a great camera for anyone wanting a simple, easy to use point-and-shoot digital at an affordable cost. Highly recommended!... By Great Little Digital For the Price

For the money, this lens is a GREAT deal in my opinion. I have taken some unbelievable photos with this camera, ranging from animals to motocross. Many of the photos look like they are magazine quality. If you aren't used to a pro-quality lens (which I am not), you'll think this lens is the greatest thing since sliced bread. In my amateur opinon, it seems to focus quickly (of course that depends on whether the item is close-up, lighting etc; can range from instant to a couple of seconds ... if you are trying to capture a fast-moving object, I DO recommend that you already have the focus in the approximate focus range, and then the lens will focus in about a 1/10th of a second). So don't take a picture of a flower that is 5 feet away, and expect to instantly snap a picture of an Indy car flying by 50 feet away at 200MPH ... be ready for the Indy car, focus on the track before the car comes by, and you'll probably get an awesome shot! I'm not saying that every single shot turns out great - when zoomed to the max (especially if the conditions are cloudy or dark), a good number of my action shots were somewhat blurry. Since I have the new Nikon D50 (digital SLR), if I snap 5 pictures and 3 of them are blurry I can instantly delete them (or delete them when I get home). But if I had a film camera, I might not be quite as happy if I had to pay for developing some blurry pictures. The actual zoom level is very good - I don't know the exact magnification level, but it is as much as you could want if you don't have the camera mounted on a tripod. The construction seems very sturdy and "professional" looking - included is a nice "hood" that goes over the end of the lens, and makes you feel like a pro! If you are professional wildlife photographer, and are seeking out the perfect photo of the extremely rare and endangered African-duckbilled-yellow-breasted-warbler, then pay $1,000 for a true pro-quality lens that can stabilize images, etc. But if you are a weekend-warrior photographer who wants to be able to capture some pro-quality shots (but your income doesn't depend on it) at a fraction of the price, then this is THE lens for your Nikon camera..... I just got mine this week and have not yet had time to learn how to use all the features but can make some comments immediately on preliminary inspection:

1. I like the build quality better than comparable Canon or Nikon models. The Pentax seems to have a metal body and has a solid feel while others feel more like plastic.

2. The Pentax feels better in my hand and is better adapted to one handed shooting because in front the grip widens just above your ring finger to keep the camera from moving downward and in back there is a gentle ridge on the right hand edge of the camera to rest against your thumb and keep the camera from rotating out of your hand. These features demonstrate carefuk ergonomic design and just plain make the camera easier to hold one handed. I recall nothing similar on other cameras I've tried or own.

3. It's red. It's my xmas present to myself and I find this appropriately festive. Further, it should make it easier to find in the clutter. The paint job is not glossy and has a good coefficient of friction, enhancing the ability to hold the camera securely.

4. The shutter release button auto-focuses before the shot with very little pressure and little or no perceptible motion. Final shutter release is accompanied by perceptible tactile feedback. Cameras from other makers take quite a bit more pressure to autofocus which may result in occasional accidental shutter release.

5. The full auto mode is adequate for producing decent pictures in a variety of situations. One doesn't need to learn all the specialized tricks and features right away.

6. The camera insists on asking me what language I speak every time it is turned on. I realize one camera might have several users but I find this inconvenient. Maybe there is something somewhere in the settings which will suppress it.

7. The Canon software I am used to using to download and organize photos doesn't seem to work with this Pentax. That's bad software design and I suspect the blame lies at Canon's door. Generic MS Windows software works OK for transferring files.

As I write there are no other reviews of this red KX; I suggest reading reviews of the black model for further info.... By Best (and only) Red DSLR

I use this film for my Polaroid Colorshot USB Digital Printer. What I see on the screen is what I get on the film. It is the most perfect transfer of digital imaging I have ever seen.
Printing digitally on this film has it's advantages. No need to worry about running out of ink. The film is instant. The film is resistant to water because of it's built-in protective coating of plastic. The image reproduces very quickly. Whereas a ink jet printer would take minutes...
I also use the film for my Polaroid Spectra 1200si which I love as well. The photo is just as sharp as on regular film. The color is perfectly balanced and the image quality is extremely sharp.

It will not auto focus with this camera, as a AF-S lens is needed for that; but those are in the range of $700+; so this lens is fine with manual focus, and for $550 or so less than one that will auto focus with my camera. The auto focus is super quiet and reasonably fast in most situations, although mounted on my D30 it does get confused in complex lighting. This is a BIG and HEAVY lens. I use the neck strap provided with the lens, as well as the strap on the camera at the same time. Although I'm probably overcautious, I don't trust the weight of the lens hanging from the camera without extra support. Mounted on a monopod, it is well balanced although following birds in flight presents a challenge. Optically, it's truly beautiful through all f stops. It looks like it will take any abuse I can reasonably give it, being solidly constructed and manufactured to very precise tolerances. I just bought this camera, and from what I can tell so far it's pretty good.

Pros:

1.) Takes really clear pictures

Cons: So far the only thing which isn't so bad is the shutter-lag. My old Kodak use to take super quick pics, this one is still fast, but not as fast as my old camera. In general, this is a good camera i would recommend.....By Pretty good camera!

Now I have used many different camera systems and their respective lenses, I am now buying my second 70mm Da limited, the first being stolen. This is the first lens I used that really shows of the K20D's capabilities, even the old faithful 50mm does not render as well nor is as sharp over all ( edge to edge ). This lens is Very sharp wide open edge to edge right to F16, great contrast, I even compared it's sharpness to the Sigma 70mm macro and at normal distances it beats the macro for sharpness and contrast and has much better bokeh.

The lens is small and light and surprisingly feels great when mounted on camera, the quick shift focusing ring is something I wish the older Fa limited lenses had so you can manual focus at anytime.

Af speed is fast, this is the fastest Pentax lens I had used until the DA 40mm limited and now newer sdm/hsm lenses, yes it is a little noisy but not so bad, it focuses with zest and lets you know it. I did have to adjust the AF on the K20D to fix a bit of front focusing with this lens but I think they are all like that on the K20D, once adjusted it is very accurate from 2ft to infinity with very little hunting.

But the lens does have it's real faults, first the close focus I wish was better, not macro but say to 1ft min distance, it does also purple ca at big apertures, not alot but just enough that you can see it, still much better than the FA 77mm in that regard. It handles flare well but has some ghosting, again not so bad but it is there. The last wish was that this was an F2 or better but F2.4 is just enough to get those shallow dof blown away bokeh shots, just.

So it's not a perfect lens but for it's price its a real bargain for how it performs and how well made it is, if your a prime shooter and need a short tele I think this is your best bet, even over the FA 77mm ( unless you really need the shallower dof/ faster aperture or are using it manual focus only ). This is one of Pentax's real "L" glass beating lenses, I have Nikon D300 and canon 5D owners jaws drop at the sharpness and clarity ( micro contrast ) of this lens, Only the Canon 85mm and 135mm L ( the 100mm to but they stopped making that one ) lenses are as good IQ wise. ... I bought this camera at a going-out-of-business sale at a local retail store about a year ago. I thought the 'construction' nature of the camera would make it more durable, while still providing fairly good pictures. Little did I know that the pictures would be so good!I never would have guessed that this camera would take such crisp, clear pictures. I have shot more than a half-dozen pkgs of film and every picture has turned out fine. Please understand...this is not a 35mm camera with all the bells & whistles. It is a Polaroid instant camera (w/ flash) that produces good, instant pictures. That being said, it is very rugged and durable and will tolerate adverse weather better than your 35mm will. I have taken pictures in the rain w/o problems - you only have to remember to protect the film when it exits the camera. Bought this for my Elph S-230. This bag is perfect, because in addition to an adjustable shoulder strap, it has a snapping loop with a velcro back-up for wearing it on your belt (the snapping loop is great, because you don't have to take your belt off and thread it through the loop). In addition, it has a small zippered compartment in the front that just fits an extra flash card and lithium ion battery. The padded main compartment fits the Elph S-230 perfectly, and the lid covers the top completely, and closes securely with a velcro strip and a locking buckle. I do not understand why people say that this is hard to use. Apparently these are the same people who do not have dvd players or ipods or maybe even cell phones. Welcome to the 21st century! This is an easy camera if you have any idea at all how to use a digital one. I have had one that is far more expensive that was so much less user friendly. This camera is actually for my 4 year old. It is pink and chunky, and easy for her to navigate. It is not like the slim model camera that I have, in other words this camera can take a little more rough treatment-not that it can be thrown or submersed in water like kiddie cameras can. But, I have a mature 4 year old who loves taking pics and is quite good, so I decided to get this after having an awful experience with a kiddie camera. The mp's are just right and though it may not have the pic quality of a 250 dollar camera, it does its thing just fine. For the people that are complaining about quality, you get what you pay for. It does not cost much, it works well, and for anyone with any kind of electronic ability it is easy. Remember, my 4 year old uses it, and I only showed her 1 time how to erase, review, zoom and play. So there's my review! Happy snapping......By A lot of bang for not a lot of bucks

I've had this lens for a couple of days and have shot in a variety of situations. The image is somewhat soft at f/1.4, but sharpens quickly as you stop it down -- f/1.8 looks much sharper and f/2 is excellent. From a purely practical standpoint, you can shoot in lower light w/o external lighting, and you can run higher shutter speeds in low light for better action-stopping when shooting people or animals. I was also amazed at the incredibly small depth of field I could attain -- for example, I was able to narrow the focus down to a single stem of a plant and have every other part of the plant far out of focus. Not something I've been able to do with my Canon 17-85mm and 10-22mm zooms. It's a heavy lens but it balances well on a 20D. Autofocus seems nearly as fast as with my Canon lenses. My one complaint is that the focusing mechanism (in auto or manual) isn't as smooth or quiet as with my Canons -- it sounds a bit rough in auto, and makes a slight "barking seal" sound as you go from close to distant focus manually. Nice of Sigma to include the lens hood and case, instead of charging exhorbitant amounts for the hood as Canon does. Overall, this is a very useful addition to my zooms, and it will definitely allow me to get usable natural-light photos in situations where I couldn't before. ... This is an early review (a pre-ordered camera only arrived a couple of days ago) so I've only spent a few hours using it.

Quick summary - in some ways the camera is surprisingly limited, and it's a bit bulky (and very ugly), but this is overshadowed by having a built-in photo-printer at the price of a regular digital camera. It offers the instant-printing of the old Polaroids, but with greatly increased digital flexibility, and lower operating cost.

With an overall thumbs-up in mind, some other notes:

The camera functions are quite basic and bare-bones compared to pocket cameras today, though are more advanced than a cellphone camera. There is no zoom, just "digital zoom". There are too few buttons to operate camera settings on the go without navigating through menus, so if the environment isn't suited to just point-and-click, I'm likely to miss my shot, and if the conditions are too challenging (low light and high movement), I'm likely to fail to get a good shot.

- The camera does turn on quickly though - it takes about two seconds from pressing the ON button to it being ready to take a shot.

- Navigating your photos on the memory card is going to become a problem. Your options seemare just NEXT and PREVIOUS, and once there are thousands of photos on the memory card, that is going to be frustrating. (The ability to print any photo at any time, plus the cheapness of large capacity memory cards means that there is incentive to carry a lot of photos around in this camera)

- The LCD screen is nice and large. I guess that since it's a large camera with a bigger battery because of the printer, you might as well put a well-lit big screen on it.

- I haven't used the video recording or voice memo functions, so can't comment on them.

- On the highest quality settings, 5MP photos are saved as JPEGs at about 700kB. So compression artifacts can be noticeable, but this is not an issue if you are only using the photos for the built-in printer.

The printer... well you can read the reviews of the previous Zink bluetooth printer - it's the same as that. There are no consumables other than the photo paper. The photos are also all stickers, which is really useful. The photo-print quality is mediocre which, given the cost of the consumables and the portable nature of the device, is impressive. I'm quite pleased with it. Loading more paper is far simpler than any polaroid film camera. Simpler than a desktop printer, even.

- The (Zink) paper is cheap compared to polaroid film or to inkjet printing. That's something REALLY nice - the device does not rape you on the price of the consumables, instead, prints are so cheap that you don't need to worry or second-guess yourself before hitting the print button.

- You can print any photo on the camera, as many times as you like, and you have some (very) limited editing functions available. (And since for a few dollars you can put a 4GB memory card in this, you could load it up with a library of thousands of useful photos and graphics and labels that you can print and stick if the need arises, without compromising the ability to use it it as a polaroid camera)

- What should be the most useful of the editing functions is being able to crop the photo before printing it, however the crop operations only zoom and step in large increments, so you can only get a crude approximation of the cropping that you want.

- You can add a decorative border to your photo before printing, from a selection of pre-set border graphics. This would be an astoundingly useful feature if you could edit or create your own borders (it would allow you to include your contact info on photos, for example). It would help even if the supplied borders were less useless. As it is, the feature is as taunting in its potential as it is frustrating in its uselessness. I hope that this will be addressed at some point through software - a utility (to import your own custom-made borders to the camera) should not be difficult to provide. - The nature of the printer seems to be that colors are offset from each other by ten or so pixels, so if your image is thousands of pixels wide, ten pixels is nothing and the everything is colored correctly, but if your image is hundreds of pixels wide, the colors might be offset by a mm, which looks terrible. So it will print your photos fine, but if you're putting your own graphics onto the memory card, and they're low resolution, consider interpolating them up to photo resolution.

I haven't spent much time with the accessories, but

- The camera case has a useful little pocket in it for photo-paper refills.

- The photo software is a bit buggy.

For the price, I think this is good value with a lot of function. At the same time, it still appears to be early days - I'd expect that in a couple of years, there will be fuller-featured photo-printing-cameras that address most of the shortfallings of this first device. In the meantime, this does the job, at a good price, and hints at the future (while looking like the past). ... By Early days, but already good value for money

Bought this when it went down to $49.99, and it was love at first try. It is so handy, and the kids love getting a little photo instantly (the polaroid effect). Here are a few things to keep in mind:

1) most of the film that you will find now (until Christmas) will be expired - I called Polaroid, and they said they are not discontinuing the line, but they will not be sending out more film until Christmas 2009. you can buy film directly from polaroid - and they stated it won't be expired. Truth is - I bought 2 30 packs from Target yesterday (that were expired - at a discount), and they came out fine.

2) this is best used when you have an outlet - it is true - it doesn't last long on one charge

3) you can use your camera USB cord, or anything that is Bluetooth enabled (even your phone or computer). The code is 6000 (I missed that on the instructions that I threw away). I used to think that I couldn't use anything that didn't have a USB cord, but I was wrong - great thinking on the Bluetooth!

4) photos are best when they are facial closeups. Far away shots just don't look so great on 2x3 film

5) photos take around 20-30 sec to come out - and yes - the paper is hard to destroy, and no ink mess!

After reading the two reviews above, I was somewhat baffled. If you do any research on this product, you will find it clearly is made only for use with Sigma lenses, not Nikon lenses. The instruction manual that comes with the converter even lists which specific Sigma lenses to use. If you want a converter for Nikon lenses, buy the Nikon TC-20E (retails for more than twice the Sigma). Of course the quality of this product is poor when using a Nikon lens! This Transcend 4G SDHC Class 6 memory card works very well with my Cannon S3 IS digital camera. It takes continuous video to full capacity at the highest resolution(640X480) It also takes pictures at the highest resolution with a pretty fast speed. It is up to the speed of a class 6 SDHC as far as I can tell. I have a 1G Sandisk Extreme that takes rapid fire pictures a little faster, but this Transcend 4G SDHC does very well in taking pictures quickly one after the other. It will hold over 31 minutes of continuous video at the highest resolution(640x480) for my camera. I recommend it to anyone who needs a high capacity SD card that has enough speed to do video and large picture files in a faster succession. It is at a great price. The only thing I can't answer to is as to how long it will last. I have only owned it a short time. My hope is that it will last for several years, but I think only time will tell. ... I hesitated purchasing this lens for my Nikon D40X--probably looked at this listing six or seven times before making the purchase. Truthfully I was worried about how inexpensive it is. Now, I'm probably a pretty average amateur photographer in that the majority of my pictures are family stuff: kids' sporting events, vacations, birthdays, and the like. But that doesn't mean I'm willing to compromise on quality just to save some money, and I know that the Nikon 55-200 is a quality lens. But, I purchased based on Michael Del Priore's review (his was the only review at the time)--I figured, at this price (especially when compared to the Nikon 55-200), why not give it a shot, and I'm glad I did. This is an excellent lens. The auto focus motor is fast and doesn't chew up the battery (I was concerned about that, but I shot almost 170 pictures at my son's games two Saturdays ago and didn't use any more battery than the Nikon 35-70 lens that came with the camera). Like "cinderoo" I haven't had any stabilization issues to speak of either, even snapping away while following 12 year old boys run the length of a field. That may be more of an issue with macro photography, but I'd imagine most of the (admittedly limited) macro photography I'd do would probably be with a tripod anyway. Now, no one would mistake me for a professional photographer, but I can tell you that when I pull up photos shot with my D40X and this Sigma lens on my 24" iMac and view them full screen they are *everything* I was looking for when I decided to move to an SLR camera. ... I got this camera for a trip to the waterpark, and for what I needed it is amazing. In good lighting I got very vivid and sharp photos with no worries of water damage. It includes three underwater shooting modes as well as three underwater specific white balance settings. I took some video on the way down the park's water rollar coaster and where as the sound isn't the most clear, the video is fantastic. On a trip to the swimming pool, I captured both outstanding underwater photos as well as more outstanding video. The water was quite blue, but there was little loss of skin color and images were crstal clear. The battery has a decent lifespan and takes 2 1/2 hours to charge. If you'll be out for an extended time without the ability to charge, you might want a spare. Indoor photos can be a bit grainy and sometimes hard to focus if your subject is any real distance away. Videos in indoor lighting however still have good quality. The optical zoom is pretty limited, but this is an underwater camera, so it's not too bad when most underwater cameras don't have optical zoom at all. All in all, if you are wanting a camera for sunny outdoor photos/video and something you can get great results with underwater or just not worry at all about getting wet, this is your camera. If you are wanting a real work horse that can "do it all" with equal quality, you're better off getting a higher end camera with a quality underwater casing. In my case, this one is so cost efficiant, I have it for sunny/water shots and a DSLR for indoor/portraits/etc. ... By Awesome For Underwater Photos or Video

I just purchased this Canon on a whim, earlier today at Best Buy. I have been tinkering with it for the majority of the evening. My previous SD300 is still working like a champ, however I have been considering a video camera for some time...after some peering at the video camera counter I wandered over to the point and shoot table... what initially drew me in to the SD780IS was its appearance on the display stand. The sleek matte-black body is very eye-pleasing...then I looked at the specs. and realized that it shoots video in HD! (1280x720) Then all the other attributes made me realize that it was time to update my "everywhere, anytime" camera. I proceeded to check out some of the other Canon SD cameras. The SD960 became the other candidate...it has a little more glass(4x)zoom, over the SD780's (3x)zoom. The SD960 has an appealing f2.8 apeture over the SD780's f3.2. The SD960's screen is more tailored for the HD video capture as it has a 16:9 ratio LCD panel. (Kinda nice for instant viewing ON THE CAMERA) After some thought I went with the SD780 for these reasons:

1. The HD video capability is awesome and comparible with the SD960. It has a HDMI jack. The traditional 4:3 screen does not bother me, because the video is ultimately going to be viewed on a HD TV.(There will be an upper and lower bar on 16:9 playback through the SD780's LCD).
2.The weaker 3x zoom is not a big deal as this camera is for general shooting(out w/ freinds, bars, random afternoon at the beach, mountain biking, etc.)and with this camera EASLIY fitting in my jeans pocket or camelbak, the portability is what gives me the opportunity to document those moments, that would otherwise be missed. The SD960 is a little bulkier(but still small). I do also shoot with a Canon 40D, accompanied with L optics, but the weight and bulkiness do not lend to certain shooting circumstances. (as mentined above)
3. The user interface on the SD780IS is like most (if not all?) preceeding SD cameras. While there is not much control in the way of shooting settings, feature buttons like flash override, AE lock, AF lock, and exposure compensation are present on the camera body. The SD960IS has two buttons and a jog wheel, which lend to swims in the menu. I'm sure the new interface on the 960 is intuitive, but I liked the 780 due to its similarity to my old SD300.

I am very happy with the results produced thus far with the SD780IS. The HD video is excellant, however it should be known that once recording you can only zoom digitally. Low light cabilities and sound in video mode are excellent. The stills I have taken look great. Also, to the budget-minded who are upgrading from older digital point-and-shoots, a class 4 minimum 4GB or 8GB SDHC card would be well suited due to the demanding memory of the 12.1 million pixels, and HD video. Also, most old card readers will not process the the SDHC cards so you may have to purchase a new card reader as well.
I have to mention it again...the small size of the Canon SD780IS is mind-blowing...and the functionality actually mirrors its beauty.

The Polaroid Pogo Camera is everything it claims to be. But... It does turn on pretty fast, so it is ready to take pictures with only a mild amount of anticipation. It is easy to set up. It is easy to use, but could be easier if it had a more intuitive buttonology (the manual provided is also somewhat poorly written), especially once in printer mode. It is a 5.0 mp camera but with only digital zoom and relatively slow reaction time. 5mp digital photography was great 8 years ago. The large LCD is great and easy to view. I haven't had any trouble with it even in sunlight. It does use SD and SDHC cards, and with 5mp PIX, you don't need a huge card to store thousands of pictures. As a printer, you can select any of the pictures you have taken for printing (made easier with the large screen). Like the Pogo printer stand-alone, it prints 2 X 3 pictures on Zinc paper. The advantage over the printer is that the camera can do a small amount of editing internally (cropping and red-eye removal, for instance) and can print 50% more pictures on a charge than the stand-alone (which I also have). I have gotten over 40 prints without a recharge (25 is the rated number). The huge advantage is that you don't need any cables or extra accessories. The small prints are still cheaper than the old Polaroid films (about 30 cents a print) and cheaper than my inkjet photo printers per print as well. The camera is about 3/8 in thicker than the printer alone and still fits into a shirt pocket. It is bigger and heavier than most point and shoot cameras of today, but then again, they don't have the printer capability. The camera printer combination is a huge winner for foreign travel and for parties with kids. It is still a huge magnet to watch the picture come out of the camera and be able to give it to the subject right away. Kids love to watch this. People who you don't know become friendly when you hand them their picture. Yes, it would be nice to get a 3X5 or 4X6 print. But it would no longer be a shirt pocket size. Yes, it would be nice to have a better camera with better resolution, better zoom, etc. Yes, it would be nice to have better instructions and be easier to use. BUT, the combination camera-printer is still a winner. JT San Diego ... By Everything It Claims to be, but...

I spent my first day with the S9000 at the Chicago Botanic Gardens, shooting on full automatic to determine the baseline performance, and I could not be happier. I've uploaded a few shots to the image gallery, all done at 9MP(F) using Macro. Very pleased with the results. I own the S3000, making this upgrade an easy purchase decision. The controls are easy to use, though the menus can be a bit tiresome (probably more so when you're switching modes). The ring zoom control is a nice new touch, as well as the addition of a second memory card slot. I got about 150 shots out of the set of included alkalines, then switched to rechargeables for about that many more (and haven't gotten a battery low warning on the rechargeables, yet). I'll leave it to the "pros" to provide a feature-by-feature breakdown. But this amateur is very pleased that Fuji has once again produced a camera that makes me look like I know what I'm doing. ... Looked at a few different Tamrac bags and settled on this one. It has plenty of room for my Nikon D80, 50mm, 18-200, Speedlight SB-600, and all the extra cards and batteries. Even with all this in there it is not cramped and has a little room to spare. Though don't let this lead you to think the bag is huge. It's not a bag you'd buy for a compact camera, but it's size makes it easy to sling over your shoulder and feel like it doesn't get in your way or is too heavy. Pros: Comfortable to carry, good size for the body and a couple lenses, well priced, quality brand, offer some room to increase what you bring with you. The Fulifilm Finepix S2 Pro improves greatly on the S1. I shoot very heavily with this camera, several thousand photos a week and beat the hell out of it. Having the Nikon constructed N-80 body helps with it's ruggedness, but it is not as sturdy as the D1-X, however it does capture 12.1 Million MegaPixels. I recommend setting the custom white balance often when attempting to shoot in various lighting conditions to insure optimum accurate colors, otherwise colors may lean toward the red. Also, do not trust what you see in the lcd, believe the metering, the display will tend make you want to push a few stops, which is fine if that is the look you are going for, but at first I blew out alot of shots. The ability to use all of my Nikon lenses is a plus, and there are plent of features to play with, so get a big memory card. For the price most digital SLR's cannot touch the file sizes you can get with the S2. This camera is almost perfect, except....IT EATS BATTERIES, EAT'S 'EM! The camera takes 4 AA's in the loading tray,(which is not the strongest of plastic things I have ever seen and cannot believe that I have not broken it while rushing to trade batteries out on a shoot) and 2 $ 123 lithium ions. On a full day shoot I go through at least 2 sets of the lithiums and usually 3 with AA(I do always leave it set to LCD previewwhich can be shut off to save juice). If I use a flash or hook it to any lighting equipment, even worse. They make a fairly expensive power pack for the camera, but for the locations I work in that is not always ideal. Final word cool Professional camera, despite the batteries, but you get more than you pay for in image resolution and picture quality. ... By Great Pro Camera, but a battery eater

Several months before the D90 came out, I bought a D60 to hold me over until the D90 was released. Well, I've enjoyed using both cameras, but this one is a huge step up and more suited to an advanced enthusiast, like me. It's a real pleasure to use. UPDATED AUG 2009 TO PROVIDE MORE CLARITY ERGONOMICS - The D90 is solid, tight, and well-balanced with the 18-105 VR lens. It's always ready and it shoots very fast. I love all the direct access buttons; they're easy to press, with good tactile feedback. And since you're not going into the menus as much, you can work faster. It's heavier than the D60, but that's OK. It's still very manageable to carry around and it fits my average-sized hand better too. The shutter sounds different than the D60 (if that matters to you). It sounds more like a professional camera; more like a fast "whoosh" than a "click-click". And there are so many internal customizations that you can set it up exactly as you want. LENS - Biggest surprise was the 18-105 VR lens which I expected would be ho-hum, but turned out to be pretty sharp and clear. Better results than the 18-55 VR. We've really come a long way from the days (30 years ago) when you were cautioned to ALWAYS to buy a prime lens, NEVER the kit lens because of it's poor image quality. With computer-aided design and new technology, that's not true anymore. IMAGE QUALITY - I shoot RAW for maximum detail and the ability to adjust settings afterward if necessary - like exposure or white balance. Image quality is very good to excellent depending on your RAW converter. To my eye, best results are obtained with View NX/Capture NX, but Adobe ACR/Lightroom still do a very good job. When shooting JPGs using the Standard Picture Mode, images are sharp and colors are true, without over-saturation. You can always use different Picture Modes and customize any of them to get closer to the in-camera results you want. For example, you can boost saturation and contrast and save the setting as your default if that's what you like. LIGHT METER - Metering is fine and seems to be quite accurate in most cases. I use matrix metering mostly. As with any camera, you have to get to know the meter. If I had to be VERY critical, I'd say when it's pushed, it's more likely to preserve shadows than highlights, usually when Active DLighting is on. To me that's a good thing. [...] mentioned a slightly "over-enthusiatic" meter in its review. The good news is: if you really feel exposure results are not to your liking (whether over or under exposed), the meter is fine-tuneable, so go ahead and customize it as you see fit. I would just work with the meter first -get to know the camera and adapt yourself to it before you start making any adjustments. That said, I've used the D90 in a very wide range of lighting conditions and I can truly say that while exposures may vary occasionally, they've always made perfect sense for the situation. I've never shocked or puzzled by the output. LIVE VIEW - is great for the occasional high or low shot. I didn't think would need it, but when I had the D60, I found myself in many situations where I really could have used it. Unlike a point-and-shoot, focus is slower in this mode and shooting seems somewhat clunky. I wouldn't use Live View if I were in a rush or trying to get an important shot. It's just a nice little extra. MOVIE MODE - this is a nice novelty and may be handy in a rare moment, but I'm generally not a video camera person. I'm surprised to read that some people have made movies and commercials with the D90. I keep promising myself to use this feature more, but I don't have a tripod and I'm just too jittery and uncreative to get good cinema-like results. Moreover, from the little I've tried it, I'm not impressed - there's no autofocus during filming and the movie comes out over exposed and far from HD quality. The user manual is not very helpful either. But I didn't purchase the camera for this feature, so I'm not disappointed. ISO - I really like the new wide range of ISO settings, especially when coupled with the Auto-ISO setting. Mine is customized to keep the camera at ISO 200, but kick in at 1/30. In this example, anytime lighting decreases enough for the shutter speed to drop below 1/30, the D90 will automatically compensate by raising the ISO high enough (up to an ISO limit you set) to help keep your shutter speed at 1/30. Once the ISO maxes-out at your limit, the camera has no choice but to start bringing down the shutter speed. Noise at high ISOs isn't an issue. In fact, you have to zoom in pretty close for it to be even slightly noticeable. I use Auto-ISO mostly all the time. Its an amazing feature! I only turn this feature off when I want to stick to a particular ISO at all times (if its on a monopod or I've stabilized the camera in some way). ACTIVE D-LIGHTING - helps camera to preserve shadow and highlight detail. More important to use when shooting JPG because the exposure has to be right at the time of shooting, when the camera creates the JPG. RAW shooters can always adjust exposure in post processing. Even though I shoot RAW, I usually leave it on Auto so I can double check the exposure details on the LCD screen. It's available in various strengths from Low to Extra High. Again, another great customization. CONS -At this price, Nikon should include a robust image editing software, or at least a decent discount on Capture NX2, which works great, but costs extra. -Kit lens is thick in diameter (67mm). Also, the front glass of the lens seems somewhat exposed, as if it's not recessed that much (it's just enough for a lens cap). I worry that it'll get scratched easily. Good thing Nikon included the lens hood. AUTOFOCUS TIP - I customized the D90 to autofocus using the AF-L button instead of the shutter release. Now I can focus with one press of my thumb on the AF-L button and shoot with my index finger on the shutter release. This allows me to focus first, let go, then take the shot. Since the subject is already in focus, I can take multiple shots, recompose or go vertical. I'm not forced to continually re-focus for every shot or move the AF point around in the viewfinder. This minimizes AF mishaps on unintentional subjects. And since the VR system remains off until you half-press the shutter (it activates only when you're ready to take the shot, not while you're focusing) you save on battery life as well. Also, with the D90 set to AF-C mode (continuous autofocus) you can keep a moving subject in focus by holding down the AF-L with your thumb and shooting with your index finger. If the subject becomes still, simply let go of the AF-L button; focusing stops and is locked where you left it. Then shoot when ready. Now your D90 can act as if it's in Single or Continuous AF mode without you having to change settings all the time. This gives you more immediate control over the behavior of the AF system Try it and you won't go back! SUMMARY - Overall I'm extremely happy with the D90! It's designed for serious shooting, but it's still fun to use; noticeably heavier than the D60, but still not a burden. But you do need to be committed to carrying around a solid DSLR in the first place. Once you get used to that, you'll come to appreciate that it's more substantial because that translates into more steadiness and less camera shake. I said it's fun to use because Nikon packed it with a ton of features and customizations. I finally have everything I want in a DSLR, without it being overblown and overpriced. I'm actually surprising myself with some really spectacular shots. If you have your basic photography skills down, you can make any DSLR sing, however, I believe THIS camera, because of its superb sensor and spot-on feature set, can actually help you improve your technique and get better results. You'll take more chances and push yourself farther because now you have the tools (ie. features) to help capture more difficult, more creative shots. And you didn't have to spend $3,000 to get there! 8-MONTH UPDATE: Still love this camera which hasn't lost any of its original excitement. Very reliable - never frustrating. I'm not craving an upgrade - not contemplating a switch to Canon either - I'm perfectly content. Haven't discovered any hidden quirks. In fact, the longer I use it, the more I realize how well engineered it is. The only extras I bought so far were a light monopod and a 50mm 1.8 lens...... By Designed for serious shooting, but fun to use! Lots of customizations.
